Ölmbrogården, a residential care home in Örebro, recently wanted to install an advanced and unified alarm system, and together with Tunstall they chose a solution from COBS.

From now on the personnel will receive the different types of alarms directly to their phones, and they also get the information about from where in the building the alarm was sent. This is a hugh advantage concidering that they earlier had several different alarm systems to keep an eye on. Now the work ca be done more efficiently!

Tunstall is an expert on telehealth solutions and they offer everything from sensors and alarm buttons to complete end-to-end solutions. Phones and alarm buttons from COBS, with or without positioning, are parts of their product portfolio.

Ölmbrogården has dementia and short term residential care homes, and the elderly are equipped with alarm buttons, to be able to trigger an alarm when being in need of help. The building is devided into different zones with transmitters, which makes it possible to receive the exact position of the elderly when the alarm is triggered. "One big advantage, especially for those living here, is that the alarm is silent. There is only a signal coming from our phones, and if we would like to, we can choose to use the phones in silent mode", says Pernilla Hannukainen, nurse at Ölmbrogården.

The alarm buttons are also used as a keyless doorlock, when the elderly are approach their room, the door will automatically be unlocked. The personnel can use their phones for the same function.

The personnel uses the new phones not only for calling, but also to receive different types of alarms.

There are movement alarms if the elderly will get up at night, alarms showing if someone walks out and also assault alarm if this would be needed. The alarms are displayed with different colors, icons and signals, which makes it easy to perceive what kind of alarm it is.

"What we want is to prevent risks, for example when someone falls to the floor, before it is too late. We do not use the alarm to watch the elderly or to make their mobility limited", says the head of unit Marianne Kangro.

Beyond Ölmbrogården, Örebro is working on making most of their care homes more modern with the technique from COBS. "The fact that Örebro chose us together with Tunstall for this hugh project makes us really proud, it feels incredibly inspiring that they have chosen to modernize the elderly care of the whole municiplaity and it confirms our strategy to deliver innovative systems to the care and attendance segment", says Sören Erlandsson MD at COBS.
